Pastor Profile Yields Passions & Goals

Posted in

To help the congregation understand the passion and goals of our new pastor, Mike Altena, we quote from the minister’s profile form. “My favorite quote is by Chip Ingram who said, ‘Who we are and what we become cannot be separated from what we believe about God.’ My passion is to help people gain the purest perception of God as possible (understanding that God is still lifting the veil from my eyes). So whether I’m leading worship, preaching, coaching, or participating in small groups, my goal is to help people discover God’s great love for them and who they are in Christ.”
My ministry is “helping people discover the life transforming power of a relationship with Jesus and the intimacy that is experienced when they are used as ‘tools’ in the hands of God. I am passionate about working with, and empowering other equally gifted people in a congregation and community to be the means to bring the kingdom of God to those who are looking for hope and peace. I am passionate about enjoying and helping others discover the presence of God. I am passionate about listening to the voice of God and joining Him where He is at work. I am passionate about being creative in seeking the lost. I am also passionate about enjoying life, even in the midst of the pain and suffering. I am passionate about helping men become spiritual leaders and helping married couples grow in their relationships.
“My passion for ministry is stimulated by a congregation that cares about people and has a growing understanding of God’s love for them and His call for them to live a life of worship. My passion is also fueled by a group of people that are willing to ‘get out of the boat’ when it comes to doing ministry. My passion will be stimulated by a congregation that loves ‘the least of these’ and is committed to the spiritual growth of all ages in order to equip each other to be ‘light and salt’ in the community and around the world. The congregation must be yielded to the leading and power of the Holy Spirit and must understand that the church is not the end but the means of bringing the kingdom of God to a community.”
